Does the boomerang law exist? Will the universe hit all the bad ones on the head with a club and pat all the good ones on the head? Cool scheme! However, does it work? I am sharing my view.ℹ️ Origins of the idea The idea of the boomerang law is based on the so-called illusion of a just world, implying that everyone gets what they deserve: for good deeds - all sorts of buns, and for bad deeds - whips and other punishments. It is important to understand that the illusion of a just world is precisely an illusion, a cognitive distortion: any “good” or “bad” that requires an answer from the universe is solely our own ideas, as well as the criteria for what can be considered punishment or reward.❔ Why do you want to believe in this so much? The law of the boomerang together with the concept of a just world are very attractive because they give the illusion of comfort and a certain stability and certainty: you can always count on a fair and understandable outcome, because the rules of the game are clear, all you have to do is stick to them.💫 The boomerang illusion The boomerang law can sometimes seem real, but this often happens to people who actively expect it, unconsciously acting in such a way as to bring the expected outcome closer. But this is not a boomerang, it is a “self-fulfilling prophecy.” What can be mistaken for a boomerang is often banal cause-and-effect relationships. For example, the husband was “taken away” from the family, and the ex-wife promises the new wife to get hit in the head with a boomerang. But is that the point? If a person leaves one family, this means that he can just as easily leave another. It’s logical, this is the scheme, this is the person. And the most interesting thing is that it may not go away - well, a completely different relationship in a new family or with a family psychologist was like personal therapy. And where is the boomerang then? You can, of course, say that it will arrive later, but this already means a very free interpretation of events. After all, how can you determine whether you received an icicle on your hat today for pushing someone in public transport yesterday, or for refusing to let your seatmate write off a math test in the 6th grade? A kind of pareidolia. Pareidolia is... An optical illusion, the perception of an image or meaning where there really is none.❗ And now the most important thing... The world is not fair. Basically. He doesn’t give a damn about what you personally or the entire Sumerian civilization considers good or bad. You can go crazy with this: from each according to his capabilities, to each according to his needs, somehow correlate the ideas of billions of people about what and how it should be, without going into contradictions . And most importantly - why? For what? Well, I’m sure that even without me you know examples when there was no “worthy retribution/reward.” We can answer this by saying that we simply don’t know all the details, but then how can we build any concepts at all if, Actually, we don’t have information? That's it.❓ How do you feel about the boomerang law?✨ If you liked the article and wanted to know more about its author, you can go to my page And if you want to get a consultation with me, then just write to Telegram/WhatsApp: +7 (915) 254-20-38 👋
