In our country there are many good traditions: some help us become more cultured, smarter, healthier, some respect the older generation, some feel involved in different communities, and some to honor family values. But there is one tradition that is an integral part of every holiday feast, which, on the one hand, can bring fun and joy, and on the other hand, lead to the most tragic consequences - ALCOHOL. And it’s good if people know the limit, drinking to lift their spirits in company, they feel when they need to stop, without creating a dependence on strong drinks. Then everything is fine, there is nothing to worry about. But this article is not about such people... In every third family in our country, children observe completely different pictures. In the middle of the holiday, cheerful parents gradually turn into people whose behavior and appearance are very different from what they were just a few hours ago. Here is the first picture: dad, visiting at the festive table, can barely speak and move with difficulty, and mom bashfully tries to hurry up drag your husband home. The second picture: after the guests leave, the drunk, but still standing father, who was just a darling in the company, turns with his loved ones into a monster - he sorts things out with his wife, destroys everything around him, starts fights and brawls, often in these showdowns for the children too inherited from the father. And here’s another picture: holidays are not held at home, because mom is afraid that dad will get drunk and go into another “tailspin” for several weeks, as happened recently, when he started drinking and either disappeared for several days, or literally crawled home in a in the most unsightly way. And one more thing: the days when dad was sober, the children can count on their fingers. Dad simply lives in different levels of alcohol content in the blood - sometimes more, sometimes a little less... Unpleasant odors, uncleanliness, a tear-stained mother - this is the atmosphere that reigns in such a house. There are many more different stories I can write about, which I hear in individual lessons and trainings from my clients. All these memories from childhood are saturated with emotional pain, which for some women is on the surface, causing tears and anger just at the mere mention of their father, while for others this pain is repressed deep into the subconscious and is so strongly walled up that no one will ever guess that that she was once in pain and that God forbid no one would cause her the same suffering. If you sometimes read my newsletter or my posts on social networks, you know that in my work I provide therapy: to neutralize automatic emotional reactions, to heal childhood traumas and to disconnect from negative parental fate. And I know for sure that in many ways we repeat the fate of our parents, having serious consequences from their destructive behavior in our childhood. Women who observed a “drinking” dad, of course, also have very strong problems in their lives, sometimes without even realizing that their root cause is their father’s alcoholism. I'll tell you about a few: 1. Alcohol addiction. As a child, her father “showed” how to relieve tension and avoid problems, so his daughter, when faced with difficult situations in adulthood, very quickly finds a “way” to relax and temporarily suppress unpleasant emotions. Unbeknownst to herself, a woman also becomes dependent on alcoholic beverages, not realizing that at first every weekend she simply finds a reason to drink, and then a couple of bottles of beer or half a bottle of wine become her friends almost every evening. And this could be a completely successful business woman, looking at whom you would never say that she might have problems with alcohol. 2. In the footsteps of mother...Parents are for us the prototypes of an ideal man and woman and we unconsciously strive to repeat their fate, even if she was not very happy. If a girl saw a sacrificial mother who endures her father’s alcoholic intoxication, scandals, and possibly fights, then somehow.
