It has long been no secret that children raised in orphanages (social institutions) cannot bring a kitten into the house or have a dog in the yard that they could take care of. It is a rare social institution that has its own mini-farm or well-equipped living area. Lack of contact with the animal world causes irreparable harm to an orphan child. And this is manifested in the following. The feeling of love for living things leaves an imprint on a person’s everyday actions and actions. Pets, with their coziness, genuine kindness, tenderness, and appearance, evoke a strong emotional response in a child - to touch, approach, take care of them. Emotions caused by communication with living beings are a powerful basis for instilling in children a love for the world around them, including other people. A child who communicates with animals and cares for them will never pass by a suffering person and will respond to a call for help. Children raised in social institutions often do not trust adults for many reasons: removal from the family, cruelty of parents or those in their stead, constant change of teachers in the institution, resentment for unfulfilled promises (this list can be continued endlessly). Often educational conversations about morality, humanism, tolerance go unheard by children - orphans, in general, and the form of conversation has long been outdated. But an encounter with the amazing world of animals, a consciously careful relationship with this world encourages the manifestation of the best qualities - kindness, humanity, tolerance. Communication with animals is one of the best methods for instilling morality in the younger generation. Animals have a beneficial effect on a child's health. Quite often, children in children's social institutions have a complex of diseases, including neurological and psychiatric. The most common are mental retardation, organic personality and behavior disorders, traumatic brain injuries, and mental retardation. In addition, psychologists note that children who live for a long time in social institutions have problems in the emotional-volitional sphere, it is difficult for them to understand their own and others’ feelings and emotions, and it is difficult for them to express their emotional state in words. Children - orphans and children left without parental care often have problems in the motivational sphere - they find it difficult to study at school, quite often children experience “learned helplessness”, which does not allow them to be proactive and active. Another problem that pupils of social institutions face is loneliness and low adaptive capabilities. The interaction between humans and animals accelerates the social and mental rehabilitation of orphans and has a positive effect on their health. Thus, one of the main methods of animal therapy is horse riding (hippotherapy). Hippocrates pointed out that horse riding restores harmony in a suffering body. Hippotherapy is a type of physical therapy that is effective for musculoskeletal disorders, traumatic brain injuries, psychiatric diseases, and gastrointestinal diseases. Communication with horses also has a positive effect on the emotional sphere of orphans, on the development of sensorimotor skills and the cognitive sphere. Thus, stabilization or improvement of the psycho-emotional state is manifested in a decrease in anxiety, irritability, and frustration. Riding a horse and caring for it contributes to the development of the child’s volitional sphere. In children with health problems, hippotherapy exercises have a pronounced positive effect on the development of motor skills, as well as on almost all body systems. The resulting effect lasts for 3 - 4 months after the end of the course of hippotherapy. Thus, trapping with the participation of an intermediary - a horse - benefits orphans with various psychiatric and psychosomatic disorders. Communication with.
