Since childhood, I was instilled with a love of sports, which, in general, had a positive effect on my path in life. 11 years of professional ballroom dancing, beautiful posture, gait, physical and mental health, and, as a result of boundless pleasure from classes, prizes at championships and experience as a coach. Being in adulthood and already having a diploma of my profession “Clinical Psychologist” in my hands, of course, muscle memory has not disappeared anywhere, and the desire to connect business with pleasure dawned on me to study dance-movement therapy and its influence on the psycho-emotional state of people. In addition to the studies I found on the effectiveness of this therapy, I also conducted a study with children suffering from mental illness. The result created a sensation when the emotional state of the children began to improve before our eyes, and depressive episodes became less and less and excessive aggression came out through movements, and not between each other through verbal conversations or the use of force. Does dancing affect an adult? Certainly! After all, it’s wonderful when your inner state, be it mental pain, suffering, emotions or joy, is expressed through movements to music. Based on the results of many years of observations and personal experience, I came to the conclusion that dance reveals us from a completely different side; a person awakens those emotions and feelings that may be repressed or blocked, which can result in aggression, as well as deviant behavior . Am I dancing now? Yes, this return to the dance environment gave me emotional relief, inspiration and an emotional positive surge, and after the classes I caught myself thinking that training is the time when you really don’t think about anything other than your pleasure from learning the dance . How do you feel about this type of activity as a means of expressing your emotions? Do you think that sport can improve our mental health and help us reveal that emotional palette that a person did not know about?
