Often, immersed in the cycle of life, we eat “automatically” - in the morning we get up and need to run to work, so we quickly throw in breakfast, at lunch we also need to run back to the office, so we are in a hurry to quickly eat everything and run errands, and this is the best case scenario - many people forget about lunch. Coming home in the evening, we have dinner - at the same time watching TV, the phone and solving all sorts of issues with family members. And it so happens that during the day we eat simply without thinking about what we send to ourselves, often neglecting what lies in front of us. As a result, food does not bring any pleasure or satisfaction, and we also blame ourselves for the excess of what we have eaten. And where is awareness here and how to use it in our realities? Have you ever wondered what awareness is? This word is now used everywhere, and people , in fact, don’t you think about what it is?! Although we say that we have all become conscious, we want to be conscious, let’s be conscious! But is this so? The word “mindfulness” came to us from Buddhism and implies focusing on one’s own sensations, correct understanding of the body’s needs and the ability to satisfy them. It is also taking care of yourself, your body, loving it and accepting your body. What is conscious nutrition?! First of all, this means understanding what and when you eat, why your body needs this or that food, what will it bring benefit or harm? Will it bring you pleasure or not? How to use conscious nutrition so that it is beneficial for our body and gives you pleasure and satisfaction? Technique: First you need to become aware of yourself in the moment. To do this, ask yourself the questions: where am I? what am I doing? what is in my hand? What food is in front of me? What color? What taste? What smell? Try it before you put the food in your mouth - LOOK at it BUT you will say I saw it already! At this moment you need to stop and look at what lies in front of you for at least a minute. What color is it? What size? How appetizing does it look? How beautiful is what lies in front of you? Next, try to catch the SMELL of what is in front of you and also sit quietly for at least a minute and sniff the food - what smell is sweetish, sourish, cloying, intoxicating, tart , spicy, bitter? Or maybe it’s stupefying, putrid, suffocating, caustic?” oh, Svetka bought a new dress from work, her husband came home from work tired and angry, grumbling all evening….and my son brought three….oh, I’ll eat a piece ((“STOP! Where did YOUR thoughts go? But no! You stop yourself and direct your attention to the smells that come to you from the food and how appetizing this smell is for you or not? And the next minute - you take a small slice with your hand (not with a spoon or fork). !) and feel how your fingers touch the food - what is it like? Warm, cold, soft, viscous, rough, slippery? What sensations remain on your hand? Put a small slice in your mouth and hold it in your mouth for a minute - feeling what it is on your tongue TASTE appears - salty, sweet and sour, piquant, insipid, delicious, bitterish, refined, minty, or maybe bad, fatty, bitter, forgotten, cloying, bad... Well, how did you manage to be mindful in eating? Practice and write what you have did it work out for you? Maybe you will discover completely new incredible tastes?
