Envy. There are a number of emotions that are indecent and shameful to experience and/or express. Envy is just such a “socially unacceptable” emotion. Admitting that you are jealous is like admitting something obscene. What is it? It is a complex emotion. Here is a typical situation - a person whom you consider no more worthy than you suddenly got a salary increase, or he bought an expensive car, or maybe he showed some abilities and you involuntarily compare him with yourself? ...Listen to yourself, what do you feel? Perhaps Sadness (I don’t have it), Anger (but he has it! Why on earth?!). Envy is often associated with a feeling of inferiority and disappointment. But most likely you will say that you don’t feel any envy. Envy is, of course, not about you)) Envy can masquerade as righteous anger, contempt, sarcasm and resentment, we can start looking for shortcomings , blame and criticize. And how much gloating if the one we envy made a mistake or failed! And sometimes we even try to destroy what we envy... Envy testifies to the vulnerability of our Ego, its insatiability. It is not enough for me! Someone has better, bigger, more beautiful...Envy can block our path to pleasure. Being in envy, we are cut off from the experience of satisfaction for our successes, we simply don’t see them, we don’t feel them, there is no opportunity to be happy for ourselves and especially for someone else... HOWEVER... stop scolding envy! Envy borders on admiration , it has a lot of energy, it activates our desires and ambitions, it can motivate us to achieve what we want. It can awaken the “competitive spirit” in us. We all know that without healthy competition there is no development and growth in many areas. These positive aspects of envy work for those who are able to admire other people and rejoice in their successes. This is impossible without love for people. And love for others is impossible without love for yourself. Something like this... “Love your neighbor as yourself.” But then it’s as if it’s not about envy anymore)))
