The camel saw the bull boasting with its horns; He became envious, and he wanted to get one for himself. And so he appeared to Zeus and began to ask for horns. Zeus was angry that the camel’s height and strength were not enough, and he also demanded more; and not only did he not give the camel horns, but also cut off its ears. So many, looking greedily at other people's goods, do not notice how they are losing their own. Envy is one of the most hidden feelings; few people admit that they experience this feeling, because it is socially disapproved. And for believers, envy is one of the seven deadly sins. But we experience this feeling and no matter how hard we try to hide it deeper, the feeling breaks out. Perhaps, in order not to experience the pain and shame of realizing that we envy someone, we divided envy into black and white, thereby legalizing it. Where does envy come from? First, let’s say hello to your parents and other significant people. Where would we be without them?! Yes, it is in childhood that we first encounter this burning feeling and most often after the phrases: But the neighbor’s son/daughter gets better grades than you; Look what a neat and well-mannered child, not like...;Here he/she helps his parents and was given what he wanted...The list goes on, but the point is the same - comparison! It is clear that parents do this with their children, trying In this way, motivate the child, encourage him to improve his results, but the price of such motivation is anger towards the one with whom he is being compared, resentment towards his parents and lowered self-esteem. Let's throw a little responsibility onto famous people who put their lives and luxury on display, thereby perhaps satisfying their need for recognition, indulging their ambition and giving reasons for envy to those people who, for objective reasons, will never be able to afford such a life. Feeling his own inadequacy, a person looks at the world with the feeling that he has been deprived - there is not enough better and more. Others have it, but why am I worse? I try, put in so much effort and don’t get it, while others get it without effort.. Such thoughts give rise to a feeling of injustice, which clearly does not contribute to increasing self-esteem. Another reason for envy is the illusions that we often see on social networks, when many people portray something which in fact is not the case, but those around you, especially young people, believe and strive to be similar. And here we come to the positive side of envy. It increases a person's level of ambition. The desire to have what someone else has or even better, spurs and motivates to achieve goals. But here it is important to check with myself whether I really want this, so as not to be disappointed. If it weren’t for envy, then perhaps there would not have been many discoveries, it’s not for nothing that there is a phrase “to the envy of people.” Envy is a rivalry, only hidden from others, which can strengthen our capabilities, the main thing is to learn how to use it correctly and turn the “deadly sin” into an inexhaustible resource.
