The topic of developing creative abilities gained popularity about 10 years ago. And it still attracts active attention. Fromm, in my opinion, proposed a very precise and capacious definition of the concept of creativity: Creativity is1. The ability to wonder and learn2. The ability to find solutions in non-standard situations 3. Focus on discovering something new 4. The ability to deeply understand one’s experience. Please note that the first place is not the creation of new things, but the ability to be surprised from which knowledge stems. It can be assumed that the creative process without surprise is not possible. It seems that creativity is not determined solely by cognition and discovery. And also surprise (emotion, feeling, emotional state). Surprise is a state caused by a strong impression of something unexpected, strange and incomprehensible. Surprise is the shortest emotion. It comes suddenly. If you have time to think about the event and speculate, then you were not surprised. Or they tested it, but didn’t pay any attention to it. Just think, surprise, there are more important things to do. Meanwhile, by skipping our surprise, we deprive ourselves of the pleasure that this feeling brings. The experience of experiencing each of the emotions can be enjoyable. Enjoying emotions or the inability to enjoy them is often the result of upbringing, and often a habit. Of course, there are people who are used to it and love to experience surprise. An amazing party, an amazing gift, an amazing meeting gives them pleasure. They organize their lives in such a way that they have the opportunity to experience surprise more often, they look for new things. But there are other people who do not like and are afraid to experience surprise. They tell you, “Please never give me surprises,” even though the surprises may be pleasant for them. They don't want to be exposed to surprises. They organize their lives in such a way as to reduce the appearance of anything new in it. Almost anything can be surprising, provided that it turns out to be either unexpected or mistakenly expected. The husband did not expect to see his wife at work - he was unexpectedly surprised. A person takes a bite of a pie whose filling looks like chocolate cream, expects to taste the chocolate cream, and the filling is made of pork and mushrooms - surprise that he was expecting something different. The surprise lasts only until you appreciate what has happened. As soon as you determine the nature of the event that surprised you, you cease to be surprised. You cannot be surprised for long, unless the event that amazed you opens up for you with its new unexpected facets. Surprise itself never stretches out. But, regaining the pleasure of surprise, attention to this pleasure is a feasible and exciting task. More often than not, we are surprised, we are in a hurry, and we don’t notice. And then we don’t feel pleasure from life. Surprise, which is associated with both creativity and pleasure, is a kind of background from which new processes, states, and figures emerge. Surprise is the decoration for the performance, the music, the smell. This is the accompaniment of the main action and what this main thing originates from.
