M.M. Bakhtin called the main distinguishing feature of the carnival an exit from ordinary life, “life inside out, the world backwards.” I really love mysteries, phantasmagoria and carnivals! How much energy! A good invention of humanity for the release of unorganized energy - dynamic, beautiful and... cultural, in the form of a Carnival. We, old cultural workers, understand this ;) During the carnival, all laws and prohibitions that prevail in everyday life are abolished, primarily those associated with the hierarchical ladder: according to carnival etiquette, masks can only address each other as “you.” All social conventions and everyday rules of life are abolished during the carnival. Everything is present at the carnival: high birth, extreme poverty and wealth, unearthly beauty and external unpretentiousness. Not committing a fall during the carnival days and nights, when even the church became less severe, became simply indecent! During the carnival, it is strictly forbidden to be sad and despondent, to be offended by jokes and to be offended even after hearing obscenity. At the carnival, there are no conventions, no established norms of behavior. Both the gentleman and the lady can be invited to dance, and both of them can flirt with each other, and this does not oblige them to anything. The more often a masquerade participant changes his costume and mask, the better: this is how the mystery of the action is preserved. Carnival in Brazil is also a huge Sambadrome. During the traditional Brazilian carnival at the end of February - beginning of March, 3-4 schools are held every night at the Sambodrome, each of which has up to 4 thousand people. During the procession, each school tries to depict a certain composition of people dancing samba. Samba is an African rhythm that lives in the blood of the Brazilian nation, and it manifests itself most clearly in the carnival. The carnival usually lasts four nights from 9 pm until dawn. On the first night, beginners walk through the Sambodrome, and then the most experienced dancers. The action ends with the Parade of Champions, in which the best samba schools participate. In ancient times, as well as now, the carnival had many similarities with Maslenitsa. Both of these holidays have preserved a variety of ritual and ceremonial customs that go back to pagan beliefs. The rituals were aimed at spending the winter with dignity and inviting spring; the days of the carnival marked the beginning of a new calendar cycle. There is a desire to visit the carnival in Rio de Janeiro. Maybe someday it will be possible.
