Envy of the Gods... in a way, yes. Perhaps this article will seem shocking to you, but for someone it will shed light on many things and life will become easier. Do you think your people envy you? parents? It’s a strange question, you might say, how can they be jealous, yes, just like ordinary people. I’ll tell you two stories from therapeutic practice, and you decide for yourself whether it’s envy or “concern.” Story 1️⃣I have a girl at my appointment, very beautiful, young and well-groomed. Her request, like that of many young mothers, is a feeling of guilt towards my children - I spend little time with them. All the time it seems like I’m not finishing something, somehow I’m behaving wrong. But I later find out that she is a mother of two children and she’s 26. And at first I look at her and admire her, she’s like a model from the cover of a magazine and he looks about 22 years old at most. He begins his story, I live in the village, my husband and I have a big house. I spend almost all my time with two small children, 3 and 5 years old. Yes, they go to kindergarten, but when they are at home, I play with them and study. We usually spend weekends with the whole family at home, or we take them to the city and go to a cafe. I have a small business, I am busy with it for about 3 hours a day. This is the beauty industry, I do makeup. And the rest of the time, it’s the house, husband and children. My question to her is where does this feeling of guilt come from? Who says that? I always ask this question during consultations. Because the answer to this question lies outside the boundaries of a specific person; as a rule, it comes from outside. Whose voice is scolding you? Mom's ⁃ "My mom. She calls me every day. And the first thing she asks is what I fed my children today, did I play with them, what did they wear to kindergarten.” Then there are instructions about what I should have done differently.... ⁃ “And, at this moment, I will begin to feel my inferiority as a mother...” ⁃ “So you agree with her at this moment?” ⁃ “Well, yes, she knows better...” ⁃ So, what’s going on with the mother. She is only 46, she is not married, she believes that she has dedicated her whole life to children. She worked at work from 9 to 18, then came home and started taking care of the house, and then if she had time, then with children. She was not fulfilled. And now, she is trying to transfer this lack of fulfillment onto her daughter. Control her, live her life. There is nothing in hers. The daughter manages to do everything, she got married successfully, the daughter can combine what she loves with raising children. My daughter actually has her priorities right. But there is no main support from the mother, and no matter what she does, he will not receive it. According to the mother, she is not living correctly. Too free, too fun. My mother couldn’t do that and still can’t. And he doesn’t give this to his daughter. So she calls her every day and looks for flaws where there are none. And he tries to upset her balance, because she is a mother and knows how to hurt her daughter. What does this look like? History 2️⃣The consultation is a man, he is a successful businessman, rather, he can even be called an inventor, he is an engineer by training and he has many inventions, he has patents. He gushes with ideas. And there is his father, who is a foreman at a factory. He is also an engineer by training. And in my opinion, they even have one university and one direction. But not a single one of their son’s inventions or his business is recognized by them. After all, the son does not work at the factory. Every time he tries to tell his father about his new achievements, his father listens to him carefully, then remains silent. And the conversation always ends with the phrase you need to get a good job. Why don't you work in a factory? (That is, be like me, if I don’t like you) For the father, the son’s lifestyle is not acceptable, although there is nothing unusual in him for a timely world. But he doesn't want to admit it. After all, the son has moved on, he has something his father doesn’t have. He allowed himself to be free, and he is also gifted. And why shouldn’t his father be proud of him? Why shouldn't he admit that his son is a genius, because he is your son? And this gap between them is created by the parent. Not all parents can endure and accept the genius and dissent of their
