Everyone is familiar with the feeling of anxiety - an emotional state characterized by a pointless feeling of imminent misfortune. There is a lot of anxiety around the topic of gastrointestinal diseases. Starting from the physiological manifestations of this emotion itself and ending with methods of examination and treatment for these diseases. Even in folklore there are reflections of this - “bear disease”. This is colloquially known as irritable bowel syndrome. The attack is often triggered by a stress reaction in students when taking exams. The biological meaning of anxiety is to find a way out of a threatening state. And all systems of the body are adjusted to this work. Heart rate and breathing intensity increase. The digestive system also adjusts. There are two options for functioning - either stop vigorous activity - intestinal function is manifested by the appearance of constipation. Or - it is necessary to get rid of the contents of the intestines to make it easier to run away, hide, and this is facilitated by increased gastrointestinal motility - diarrhea, vomiting, which may be accompanied by nausea, increased gas formation. In these conditions, various sound manifestations are observed that a person cannot control. And this leads to even greater anxiety. What else increases anxiety in this group of diseases? The gastrointestinal tract system is represented by a large number of organs with various functions. There are many organs, they all have their own characteristics, they all work at different speeds and on different tasks. The more elements that need to be tracked, the more difficult it is for an initially anxious person in such a situation. Organs are hidden from direct observation. It is impossible to see the work of the stomach, for example...and the stomach itself is hidden from the observer. One can only guess...and here there is room for the imagination of the anxious... The gastrointestinal tract organs serve the most important and most pleasant function - nutrition. It ends, however, with a less pleasant...act of excreting all waste products...but also extremely exciting - what will happen today?.. Many features are also associated with nutrition. Many people are now concerned about the quality of their food. This topic is limitless - what to eat, when, in what combination? How will this affect my body? What will others think when they find out what I eat? With the help of food selectivity, you can both indicate your status and indicate your level of education. And each of these questions is a new wave of anxiety. And if you remember about the amount of food consumed...recently, this topic is unlikely to have passed anyone by...in social networks and in conversations, serious battles are unfolding about this issue. And there is a lot of suffering, worry, and anxiety. Many educational moments in a person’s life are related to nutrition and bowel movements. Psychoanalysis examines various aspects of this in connection with the formation of human personality. Regulation of diet, potty training, experiences in these topics - including disturbing ones - are reflected in a person’s character. Mom, as the closest person, introduces many ideas and rules in connection with nutrition and bowel movements. Her personal attitudes and fears about these topics are reflected in the emergence of a variety of habits and beliefs. And also anxiety. The child needs his mother’s love, he wants recognition, he needs to correspond to his mother’s ideas about the right child. And the mother is very concerned about how the baby eats and what and how he excretes after that. The mother’s increased anxiety in these matters is passed on to the child. He begins to pay more attention to these functions of his, will try to regulate them either in accordance with the wishes of the mother, or, on the contrary, to spite the mother if there are any problems in contacts with her. The mother begins to worry... pay more attention to the baby... which is what was needed. In the future, this behavior may become entrenched as an option for self-care and increased anxiety if something does not work out in this care. Manifestations of dysfunction of the gastrointestinal tract are extremely diverse. Which in itself is alarming... there are so many things... There are various pains here!
