Tomorrow. Tomorrow. not today So sloths say. Now we call it “procrastination”, from the Latin “pro” (for) + “cras” (tomorrow) = “procrastinatio” (putting off until tomorrow). Procrastination can be easy: putting off the dishes for the evening, taking out the trash for tomorrow, get up for 10 minutes. Everyone probably knows each other. It doesn’t particularly interfere. It can also be less convenient: putting off an important unpleasant conversation, putting off quitting a job you don’t like, putting off repairs (not due to lack of funds). It already somehow affects life. A more difficult situation is possible - putting off life. For example : entering into a relationship, having children, getting an education, changing a profession. I’m not talking about refusal, I’m talking about postponing. Refusal is making a decision: not to do, and not to do. With procrastination, everything is more complicated. A person understands that he will have to do something, for various reasons. That is, I made a decision to do it, but I don’t want to. It’s scary, stressful, uninteresting, embarrassing. The list goes on. The implementation of the decision will presumably be associated with some unpleasant emotional reactions. Having started to do it, we will implement “somehow” in the material world, but we will not “somehow”. Any implementation is a constant choice. A difficult “attraction” for those who find it difficult to choose. And of course, in the real world, nothing will work out perfectly. And there will be shortcomings. It’s hard for perfectionists. What to do? When you can’t refuse. One option: move the implementation as close to the deadline as possible. And suffer yourself with this deadline. What is the gain? The job will most likely be done. Various emotions will boil down to the fear of “not being on time.” Emotionally it may be easier than experiencing other feelings. The pace will be there. This means it won’t take too much time to complete. There is no time to improve or redo it. The imperfections and shortcomings are easily explained - there was not enough time. It is easier to admit to disorganization than to admit stupidity or ineptitude, for example. Now the job is done. They have somehow adapted to perfectionism. What are the disadvantages? The procrastinator is exhausted. In the process of procrastination, a person does not do what he planned and does not rest. Deadlines are planned for the person. There are no resources for creativity and thoughtfulness. As a result, time is spent ineffectively. Do you like to procrastinate and is it bothering you?
