The history of tattoos goes back centuries. The desire to distinguish yourself from others, to show that you belong to a community or to your dream is like making a notch as a keepsake. Where does this desire come from? They say that scars adorn a man, which is an indicator of the courage and dedication of the stronger half. These are markers of the life events of a defender and warrior and a reason for the bravado of their victories. But a real “Warrior” knows that every scar is, first of all, his mistake, that is, he could not repel the blow of an enemy or opponents and there is nothing to boast about. This is just a reason to think about wrong actions. Keeping yourself safe and sound is the whole art of a fighter. There is another extreme - this is branding, as a form of shameful punishment and a means of recognizing convicted criminals. And here, too, the “error principle” comes into play. So what makes us leave marks on our bodies? Maybe humanity has left us a legacy of genetic memory of the painful sensations we suffered and formed in us the prerequisites for a masochistic inclination? Maybe that’s why the demonstrative nature of the current generation forces them to assert themselves in such an illogical way? Or maybe echoes of archaic thinking resonate in us and tattoos instill faith in the reality of dreams? My thoughts are not philosophical, but a search for an answer to the client’s request: “What do they say about a person who has tattoos on his body?” And the first thing that comes to mind is, of course, tattoos in a criminal environment. There are a lot of research papers about this and I won’t go into depth because in the case of my client, a 16-year-old teenager dreaming of military service, this is not suitable.
