Ficus and life branches: How to remove obstacles to personal development I look at the ficus trees that grow in my house and think. They not only decorate the space, but are a source of inspiration and a metaphor for life for me. Twice a year they need a trim. They should be pruned in the fall and spring to help them transition successfully into the new season. However, this is not as simple as it may seem. If you cut off the main branch of a ficus, it will stop growing upward. Instead, branches and leaves will be directed to the sides. However, if I remove the lateral branches, which in my opinion are unnecessary, the ficus will use its resources from the soil to rise higher, towards the light and sun. The same can be observed in human life. We also have our own “branches” - old and limiting beliefs, automatic thoughts, shoulds, worldview positions, attitudes towards something, prescribing boundaries of possibilities, opinions, etc. These “branches” can and do become an obstacle to personal development. They can inhibit our energy and leave us in a daze. During such a period a person feels that his life is meaningless. He does not feel any prospects and sometimes this leads to an existential crisis. However, if we are aware of these “branches” and decide to remove them, we begin to develop and strive upward, towards the light and sun, towards self-realization and self-actualization. Removing these barriers can be difficult. This requires courage and determination from a person going into the future. This requires high professionalism from an expert psychologist. But it is necessary for our growth and development. The one who walks in this metaphor needs courage, just as courage is needed for the chick who has broken through the shell and discovered an endless and amazing world of discoveries beyond it. When we let go of outdated branches, we create space for new possibilities and new ideas. Energy is not wasted on old branches - beliefs. It climbs up the trunk and the branches reach towards the light. We begin to see the world and ourselves in it with a new perspective. This new thing is not yet clear at the beginning, just as it is not clear which branch in the crown of the plant will stretch upward faster than others. This is usually indicated by the subconscious in dreams. Are you saying this tree isn't beautiful because it doesn't look like that tree? We are all trees. You are a tree. I am a tree. You have to love your body, Eva. You must love your tree. Love your tree. Eve Ensler ConclusionPruning ficus trees and eliminating old “branches” in our lives is a process that requires courage and determination. This is how we can achieve personal development and self-realization. What did you have to compare life and life’s Path with?
