How does it feel to be here and now? And, most importantly, why? It's not easy to describe in words. I'll go for the opposite. “Here and now” does not mean remembering what day of the week, date, month and year it is. This is not enough. The best way to cope with the task of living here and now is the body. It is connected with current reality through the 5 senses. And when we pay attention to what position the body has taken and where it is now, what a person feels, hears, sees, what smells he inhales, then we are in the present moment. Why do we need this? For adequate decisions and freedom of choice. This is my version of the answer. You will have yours. A man, possessing a huge brain, moves into his “penthouse” and, with the help of memory and imagination, makes his body rush from the past to the future. Those. experience an experience that does not exist in reality. Most often, suffering and unpleasant moments live in the past, and fears and negative scenarios for the development of events live in the future. The body does not distinguish between external (objective) and internal (contrived) reality. And it reacts to any as to what is right now: hormones are released that correspond to the invented reality, the pulse and breathing quicken or freeze, etc. For example. It was chilly and damp outside. The woman is at home, comfortable, warm, dry. A Turk with aromatic coffee snorts comfortably on the stove, announcing that the divine drink is about to be ready. He calls the hostess: “don’t miss the moment.” And the hostess at this very moment is traveling in memory, plunging into the events of 10 years ago. “How could he do this to me? How can the earth bear such reptiles!” - she thinks furiously. For the hundredth, thousandth time, she replays the painful conversation. Injustice rises in her body like a suffocating wave, makes her heart burst out of her chest, her breathing quicken, “Bastard, bastard,” the thought pulsates, causing pain everywhere. The bitterness floods completely. “Pshhhh, fzhzhzh,” the Turk screams. Welcome to the stove. The hostess returns to it for a while, swearing and swearing. Well, okay, that’ll do. She pours out the remaining coffee and takes out something. to him (don’t drink coffee just like that). And starts the meal. The first sip, the first bite..... “Stay, stay here, with me,” the coffee begs.... The hostess is already far away. Now, only God knows. Maybe she returned to the past and is trying to reconstruct the events of days gone by, writing new dialogues, not allowing herself to be treated like a servant, maybe mentally beating the insidious rival who so heartlessly lured her husband. Or maybe she flew away into a bleak future. frightens herself with loneliness and rejection, comes up with a scenario in which she drags out her existence abandoned and sick by everyone. Who knows... Meanwhile, your hands automatically pour coffee into your mouth and put pieces of dessert. The jaws move mechanically, sending all this stuff inside. But she feels neither taste nor smell. She is completely captured by her parallel reality, where she is offended and betrayed, where she may take revenge on the offenders. But this has nothing to do with reality. Reality with its present moment is sacrificed to virtuality. The hostess is in a one-man theater. Where she is the director, the director, and the performer of all roles. This theater produces exclusively dramas and tragedies. And she has been successfully touring in her exhausted body for more than one year. However, what difference does it make what genre the production is in if it abducts you from reality. From real life, where you can change something and get new results. What is impossible neither in the past nor in the future. One has already ended, the other has not begun. I hope you feel the difference and answer the question “why do I need the present moment?” Friends! Thank you for reading to the end. If you liked the article, I would be grateful for a repost.
