From the author: In the process of writing this article, I relied on the materials presented in the books and publications of K.G. Jung, Hayo Banzhaf, A. Crowley, I. Trizna, S. Heller, R. Gwaine, O. Telemsky, E. Monique, D. Fowles, as well as personal and professional experience. As illustrations, I use Aleister Crowley’s Thoth Tarot cards, Rosetta (the female analogue of the Thoth deck), and the Tarot of Marseilles as my favorite ones. Child. Stage six. XVIII Arcana Tarot - Moon. XVIII Arcana The Moon is perhaps the most dangerous Arcana, for it is fraught with many pitfalls. Plunged into the depths of the unconscious, learning about her shadow aspects, the heroine risks being so enchanted by this world that she may remain in it forever. And the Bible warns us about this with the story of Lot’s wife, who, turning around, turns into a pillar of salt; the myth of Eros and Psyche tells about the same thing in the place where Psyche could not resist and looked into the box with ointment obtained from Persephone and fell into a lethargic sleep. The point here is that, having acquired a new consciousness, enriching it with the enormous content of the unconscious, one can easily lose what has been gained, not having a sufficiently highly developed conscious mind. K.-G. Jung warns: “If psychology today is forced to emphasize the importance of the unconscious, this does not mean that the conscious is declared unimportant. The goal is only to balance the one-sided and exaggeratedly respectful attitude towards the latter through at least some relativization. However, this relativization, in turn, should not go so far that the worship of archetypal truths buries the ordinary human “I”. Our “I,” if we still believe that it exists, lives in a certain time and space, and in any case must obey their laws.” The path to finding oneself has not yet been completed and immersion in the realm of the unconscious is not the goal, but only a step along the way, a problem that needs to be solved. Therefore, you cannot relax, this is not the time to rest, there is still a long and difficult path ahead. On the Crowley Tarot Moon card we see two kingdoms: the underground, the unconscious and the world of consciousness. Rivers of oblivion flow in the underworld, Scorpio tries to push the sun up, showing the need to grow in awareness, the path to consciousness. But this path is thorny and full of dangers. It is guarded by a dog and a wolf (helping instincts and dangerous instincts), it lies between towers that invite you to linger, clinging to the familiar, but all this must be left behind in order to rise from the depths to the surface, for our goal is Jerusalem or the Self. “.. .because the gate is narrow and the path that leads to life is narrow, and few find it” (Matthew 7:14) The fairy tales of Morozko and the Twelve Months can serve as an illustration of how to correctly get out of dangerous situations at this stage. The main heroines of these fairy tales humbly carry out the tasks of their evil stepmothers (negative feminine) and as a result acquire chests of gold and a prince. Morozko’s fairy tale also contains an indication of the wrong path, which leads to death. This is the path of the stepmother’s daughter, who demands from Morozko (the Self in fact) that he serve her. And he receives a bunch of garbage as a gift. The Tale of the Golden Fish is about the same thing, about the Ego, which does not understand its place and the balance of forces, which results in inflation. There are no insurmountable obstacles, there are many fears and not enough energy to cope with fears. But for those who find these powers within themselves, a wonderful dawn awaits. As Crowley said: “Whatever horrors torment the soul, whatever abominations turn away the heart, whatever fears attack the mind, the answer is the same at every stage: “ What a great Adventure this is.!»
