Deputy in the arrangement is an assistant (assistant) of the arranger, whom the client appoints to one of the roles in the arrangement. His task, using substitute perception (close concepts: empathy, attunement, getting used to the role, bodily sensitivity), is to sense and feel the signals of the “knowing field” and report them to the client and the arranger. Report as concisely as possible, without value judgments and excessive emotions. For those who see the work of a deputy for the first time, this looks like a real miracle. Being assigned to the role of a complete stranger, without having any prior information about him, the deputy is able to convey the nuances of the client's problematic situation quite accurately and recognizable. “Yes, this is my film!” - the client usually says. The constellation specialist discusses the entire set of information received from all the deputies in the constellation with the client and formulates working hypotheses about the causes and factors of the client’s problem situation and then offers the client effective solutions (resolving phrases and rituals). If the hypothesis and proposed solutions turn out to be correct, the state of the deputies and the client himself changes and becomes more comfortable. Substitutes show signals of positive change by moving towards the goal, experiencing general relief, and demonstrating a more benevolent attitude towards other figures. In most cases, the role of a deputy can be performed by any person, without psychic talents and without special psychological training. Women tend to be more sensitive and able to read the finer nuances of a situation. For women's roles, it is preferable to appoint women to men's roles (if it is possible to choose substitutes from representatives of both sexes). The proposal to introduce additional figures into the arrangement is usually made by the arranger (he discusses this with the client), and the appointment of a substitute for the role is made usually by the client himself. This reduces the possibility of information distortion. It is not necessary to hold the deputy by the shoulders and take a few steps forward with him in order to “bring him into the role.” I am more accustomed to this kind of appointment ritual. The client takes the deputy’s hands in his own, looks into his eyes, and politely addresses him with the following words: “Ivan. Please be my father in this arrangement.” “Okay, I’ll stay,” the deputy replies. The client himself can place the deputy at a certain point in the arrangement workspace; he can do this in any way. This contains some useful information. This may indicate the client’s internal representation, the image of this situation. The substitute can find a place for himself. In resonant constellations, deputies can freely move around the space of the constellation, and the roles can freely flow into one another, changing the level of analysis. The constellation can flow from the organizational level of analysis to the family level and vice versa. In non-resonant constellations (for example, organizational ones), freedom of movement is limited to maintain the originally assigned role without changes. In family constellations, substitutes play the roles of members of the family system (living or dead). In structural and organizational arrangements, substitutes can play the roles of abstract elements (goal, symptom, cause of the symptom, income, money, workshop No. 8, etc.). After the placement is completed, the deputies are removed from their roles (taken out of their roles): “You are no longer my father. You are Ivan. Thank you". If, after removing the role, the substitute’s unpleasant sensations of the role remain in his body, the arranger is obliged to assist him in removing the role. There is a special procedure for this.
